Opinion Line (Feb. 26)

It is interesting to hear all the dire predictions from politicians if funding were held up for the Department of Homeland Security, especially knowing that 90 percent of DHS employees would actually stay on the job. What, no one to bring your coffee?

You know that the Republicans know that they would get blamed for shutting down DHS because they are breaking ranks.

What has happened to the Democrats’ cry for the U.S. Senate to have up-or-down votes?

Didn’t we all predict the Democrats in Congress would be the real party of “no”?

Kris Kobach is a rare public servant with headline-grabbing expertise on voting rights, immigration, federal and state legislation, and presidential authority. Like the universe, Kobach’s ego is constantly expanding beyond our understanding.

Wow, the Minnesota guys were crooked, according to the Kansas securities commissioner. Life is just full of surprises, isn’t it?

I don’t blame the neighbors for saying good riddance to the rookery in west Wichita. That said, someday the Earth, or what’s left of it, may say good riddance to our species because we can’t control our genes and our greed.

Gas prices are so low I’d be willing to go to a full-serve station, if I could find one.
