Opinion Line (Feb. 25)

Why haven’t the Wichita mayoral candidates discussed adding more police officers and firefighters? I guess that a new public library is more important than public safety.

If you want everyday life to be like work, elect a businessman your mayor.

What’s the big deal about Sam Williams making false statements about sounding like a current CPA? Isn’t misleading the public while running for public office a requirement for being a politician?

Why I won’t be voting for Williams for mayor: He was the chair of Gov. Sam Brownback’s school efficiency task force. The key words are “chair” and “efficiency.” Need anything else?

If you wouldn’t care for a teacher to perform surgery on you, why would you want a politician to define education, especially one who can’t read a whole book?

The Hollywood liberals kept Clint Eastwood from winning his Oscar for “American Sniper.”

The viewership of the Oscars dropped significantly. When you have the anti-American Sean Penn giving out the best picture award, who wants to watch? They better learn the public is tired of stars lecturing us about social issues.

I am just thankful that none of the actors broke their arms patting themselves on the back at the Academy Awards.

Lady Gaga singing songs from “The Sound of Music”? What’s next - Marilyn Manson singing gospel hymns?

Whatever possessed KAKE and The Wichita Eagle to drag us all through the BTK nightmare again?

I found “BTK’s daughter” inspiring (Feb. 22 Eagle). If Kerri Rawson can find it in herself to forgive her father for all his horrible deeds, then maybe I can find it in myself to forgive all the alcoholics and drug addicts in my life.

I disagree with the comment that “nobody wants to hear about Dennis Rader or his daughter.” I can’t begin to imagine what she’s been through. I read every word of the article. I wish her and other family members well. Thank you, Wichita Eagle.

Bill Self is upset at court-storming K-State fans for brushing up against him and his players, while it’s a well-known fact that KU fans are the rudest in all of college basketball. You got blinders on, coach?

The postgame court rush gave further credence to the thought that KSU is just an advanced high school. But then I guess with such a poor season, KSU had reason to celebrate.

Bill Self: Come to WSU. We are loud, but we won’t hurt you or your players.
