Opinion Line (Feb. 19)

If global warming is a hoax, why did I see robins in my yard before mid-February?

Obama thinks climate change is our biggest threat. When will climate change begin beheading Americans and burning people alive?

I watched two basketball games on a recent Saturday, and 9 of 10 players were black in both games. We have a black president, mayor, former police chief, U.S. attorney general and hundreds of professional ballplayers making millions. When will it be time to void all EEO laws?

The first Crusade was a defensive action in response to Islamic jihad, not an offensive one. This is a fact Obama unfortunately left out of his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast recently. More disinformation from the White House resident.

Democrats never mention the unconstitutional uses for taxes we pay such as charitable donations (welfare), farm supports, green energy, health insurance, retirement savings, and care for illegal immigrants.

Even if the mill levy stays the same, if you find an increase in the value of your property, more property taxes are due. If taxes keep increasing on our home, we will have to do like all our friends did when they retired and move away from Wichita.

All of this talk about “tax cuts” is just a smoke screen to cloud the real issue of absolute waste in the education system. The fat cats are getting all of the gravy and the teachers are making up the shortfalls out of their own pockets.

Force-feeding Kansans with some evangelical marriage experiment is a sick thing to do.

The foster home I lived in when I was 13 years old consisted of a stay-at-home mother, a breadwinning father and three siblings, all of whom attended a local Catholic school. Every night after I went to bed, the 17-year-old boy visited my bedroom to molest me. I never told.

So the state enriches Kansas lawyers to defend new anti-abortion laws to the tune of $1.2 million, but wouldn’t cover the cost of a successful Judge Riddel Boys Ranch program for troubled boys. What a waste of our money.

While our Legislature debates whether to allow concealed-carry without any required training, maybe it should compare the number of times that concealed-carry permitted owners have saved a life with the number of times that children have killed themselves or others with unguarded weapons they have found.

I believe the Republicans in Kansas should change their mascot from an elephant to a lemming. After all, they are blindly following the governor over the fiscal cliff.
