Opinion Line (Feb. 16)

Is anyone else bone tired of hearing about racism? Never in my 53 years on this wonderful world have I heard so much division among us. Seems it started getting bad about six years ago. That wasn’t what we were promised.

Obama has been doing as he pleases regardless of our Constitution. Now he says Congress needs to approve the war on ISIS? There has to be an ulterior political motive.

The decision to leave the National Association of Counties because it is too liberal and refuses to allow any conservatives in leadership positions shows only one thing: NACo is smarter than at least three Sedgwick County commissioners and the public who voted them in.

Notice how The Eagle editorial board has swung from praise to criticism of the Sedgwick County Commission as it moved from liberal to conservative?

Let’s cut out all the overpaid public information personnel at the city, county and school districts. How much do these people make to provide propaganda?

I feel so sorry for the poor liquor store owners. They might lose their monopoly to real competition.

Raise the minimum wage so smokers can afford buying cigarettes in Kansas.

It takes 15 minutes to drive to the Kansas Star Casino to lose money and 50 minutes to drive to Oklahoma to win. The state is pushing for a new casino but will not allow the deduction of losses against winnings. Hello, Oklahoma.

While our state economy tanks, our legislators are busy telling us what books our children can or cannot read, telling professors they can’t use their titles when editorializing and, now, how they can make our marriages better. I see they are striving hard to keep government out of our lives.

What we’re seeing in Topeka is the most flagrant power grab witnessed in my lifetime of 77 years in Kansas. No doubt this Legislature will soon outlaw political parties except for the tea party, Sam Brownback will happily sign the bill, and Kris Kobach will giddily offer to enforce it.

If no one you ask admits to voting for Brownback, then how did he get elected? Time for Kobach to look into voter fraud.

I really don’t care if honest people carry hidden guns. I don’t care how many guns they own. I would feel safer if our legislators would put as much effort into getting illegal guns off the street.

If I’m walking down the street clad only in a Speedo and I want to carry a gun, I should be able to stick it down my crotch.
