A GOP internal poll shows widespread disapproval of Gov. Sam Brownback and candidates who support his policies, the Topeka Capital-Journal reported. The poll, which was recently distributed to GOP Senate candidates, showed that 70 percent of likely voters view Brownback unfavorably, and 58 percent have an unfavorable view of the Legislature. Only 46 percent of those surveyed said they would vote for the GOP candidate in their Senate district. And if the GOP candidate supported Brownback’s political agenda, 57 percent said they would vote for the Democratic candidate. Senate President Susan Wagle, R-Wichita, would not comment on the poll but said that GOP Senate candidates “remain focused on getting Kansas back on track.” – Phillip Brownlee
