Letters on Benghazi, Hillary Clinton, India
Benghazi probe a witch hunt
We finally have a final report on the Benghazi investigation. After three years and eight congressional investigations, and $7 million of taxpayer money spent on this last investigation, Republicans came up short again in their attempt to blame former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for what happened.
Even some Republicans said this was a scheme to discredit Clinton because she is a candidate for president. Republicans need to look in their own backyard for wasting taxpayer money, and at their own nominee for president, who is currently being sued for fraud.

Back up claims
Going on 25 years now we have listened to people, the Republicans mostly, howl and scream about Hillary Clinton. “She’s a criminal.” “She’s a liar.” “She’s crooked,” And so on, they wail.
It is past time for the anti-Clinton forces to put up or shut up. Disagree on policies. That’s fine. Or perhaps it is a personal dislike of powerful women. But back up your claims that she is a criminal, crooked, dishonest, that she murdered Vince Foster and the rest.
Failure to back up the claims will leave many of us wondering just what the fuss is all about, and we will all assume it is probably just noise from the political opposition – which most of us know and understand quite well. If there is one thing the Republicans are exceedingly good at, it’s whining and accusing everyone of doing what they themselves excel in: political subterfuge and, here in our own state, shifting the blame.

India an example
Columnist Cal Thomas posed a question (June 29 Opinion): “How could a conglomeration of nation states noted for invading and pillaging each other and warring against each other form a union?” Thomas should read about the history of India.
Before the partition of India in 1947, there were 562 princely states in India that were not part of British India. For centuries, some of these states had invaded each other, conquering and expanding their kingdoms. But after the independence, all these kingdoms formed a union and became India, the largest democracy in the world, with two official languages, Hindi and English. It is surviving on a solid foundation.
Thomas further stated that the British are tired of “the wave of immigrants who do not assimilate and who seem uninterested in becoming fully British.” I disagree with this. The Indian immigrants in England are entrepreneurs and professionals who have made significant contributions to the British economy, academia and professional circles and are fully assimilated.
Oh, now the British want to take back their country? What happened when England looted India and killed the freedom fighters who just “wanted their country back”?
Only time will tell whether Brexit is good or bad for Britain.
