Letters on women’s dress code, Trump
Women’s dress code was appropriate
The “dress code” for a Kansas Senate committee was entirely appropriate, and a refreshing comment about women’s dress (Jan. 23 Eagle). And Wednesday’s letters to the editor complaining about it were crazy.
Women’s dress in today’s fashion, and as noted on Fox News, seems to be a bid for public – the male public – viewing, showing bare legs, bare arms, bare bosoms and bright colors. And the fashion today encourages almost nudity – such as skintight waist-to-ankle pants (which actually are ugly on some women). It’s encouraging to see tops that reach to below the crotch with flair and fullness.
Skimpily dressed women in public detract from the seriousness of their verbal exchange. And it’s nowhere near like a burqa. It seems that we need a rule, or some women would appear in public nearly nude.
There’s a reason why women need to cover their private parts: There are some men out there who think women are free game (Bill Cosby allegedly was one of them).

Trump an extremist
When Donald Trump first announced that he was in favor of a temporary stay on Muslims entering the country “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on,” I thought, “Well, maybe that’s not such a bad idea under the circumstances.” But I wondered how long we were talking about. Maybe a year? I also wondered what he meant by “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.”
Before I could get an answer to my questions, the conversation quickly turned to internment camps. I heard Trump talking about internment camps and thought, “Wait a minute here. These are two very different issues.”
That’s the problem with Trump; he’s an extremist. One minute we’re talking about a temporary stay on Muslims entering the country, and the next minute we’re talking about internment camps. He always seems to go from one extreme to the other.
Internment camps – are you kidding? I don’t even want to go there.

Not a politician
Donald Trump is not a politician. If he were, he would be like President Obama and Hillary Clinton, and take four handpicked questions and spend 15 minutes answering one of them.
