Problems with GOP tax plan
I listened to the debates about the new tax bill put forth by the Trump Administration. I thought there were some pro and some con. For one thing, the tax relief for the lower-income bracket sounds appealing because I fall into that category.
When I looked at the plan online, the very last paragraph deviates from its intended purpose quite dramatically.
It’s disturbing that after everything that we’ve been through, the new administration would insert a paragraph which would allow them to make changes to the Affordable Care Act without actually passing regulations to do just that. I’m one of many Americans who got health insurance for the first time in years through the ACA.
On C-SPAN, there were also a number of representatives from different states who commented about the failed budget practices from Kansas that went into constructing this piece of legislation. They mentioned our state by name.
But the thing that’s most striking to me is that this is being done with one party only. I am really sick of these people not working together. That’s not a good way to govern, especially a country with so much power, and especially now facing so many challenges.

Claycomb for City Council District 6
It has been said that wisdom is knowing what to do next, skill is knowing how to do it and virtue is doing it. Cindy Claycomb is a doer.
When I look around at some of the city of Wichita’s most significant improvements — clean indoor air ordinance, support to make active transportation safer and more convenient for all, improving our city’s parks, and creative economic development initiatives — Cindy has been not only involved, but leading the efforts.
As a candidate for City Council District 6, Cindy has already demonstrated that she is a collaborative problem solver who values public participation. This is an exciting time to be a Wichitan and as our great city tries to tether young talent, it is imperative that the core of our community continues its efforts to become even more progressive and vibrant.
As downtown is in District 6, Cindy would be a tremendous advocate for cultural activities to engage residents and recruitment of businesses of every size. Wichita is continuing on its path to greatness and we need strong leadership with a vision from fresh eyes.

Butler for Andover school board
I am writing to add my support for Lee Butler regarding the upcoming Andover school board election. As my children have completed or will complete grades K-12 with the district, the Board of Education has a lot of meaning to me and my family.
Lee will greatly contribute to the Andover school district, for I know him to be honest, hardworking and a family man. He is willing to listen to ideas, will do his best to accommodate others, and most of all he cares. Lee would be a great asset to the school board, and he may be the breath of fresh air that the Andover school board needs.
