Letters to the Editor (June 22)
Climate
Mayor Longwell, please join the mayors of many other leading cities in this country and pledge that Wichita will continue to maintain the standards set forth in the Paris climate agreement, regardless of what our foolish president has decided. I would ask the governor to do the same for Kansas, but - yeah, right.

Creationism
The article “Creationist views declining ...,” Wichita Eagle June 18, was a good reflection of the debate on the origin of the universe. The opening statement, “Views about evolution are changing, but many also think God had a hand in evolution,” and the discussion about education’s impact on worldviews were well stated. The most important question of “truth” was not addressed. The truth has eternal consequences, so the worldview you have is very important.
Education should teach both Biblical creationism and evolution’s six parts. Biblical creationism is constantly verified by science. Evolution is at best a hypothesis and not a true theory that has any evidence. A search for truth in education should have both worldviews taught since proponents believe their view to be true. Some will never believe the truth, but they should be exposed to the facts.
There is no way in a letter to completely address this issue. Let me leave with two questions: 1. How did DNA’s code and the symbiotic components occur without creation? 2. Why does matter exist? Let education be education and not indoctrination.
James W. Kilpatrick, Jr., Wichita
