Ascension Via Christi chief: We will emerge from COVID-19 stronger than before
From the time the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19 first reached our shores to now, life as we have known it has changed.
As Kansas’ largest provider of healthcare services, we, along with the communities we serve, have had to quickly adapt in order to protect ourselves and our families, friends and neighbors.
We could not have done so without the unparalleled contributions of physicians, caregivers, support personnel and first responders. We also want to recognize our public health and government officials, those serving in essential service, retail, manufacturing and support roles, and everyone who continues to faithfully do their part, even if that is by simply staying home and helping flatten the curve.
Through it all, we have witnessed selflessness, camaraderie, courage and unwavering resolve. These past two months have served as a testament to our determination and coordination to serve our communities and ensure the safety and well-being of our patients and caregivers.
Our community has come together in an unprecedented fashion to rally around our caregivers, with messages of support and donations of food, supplies and equipment and funds by area businesses, schools and universities, and individual community members. Some contributed supplies from their own inventories, while others, like Spirit AeroSystems, collaborated with our caregivers to design and manufacture the personal protective equipment and supplies needed to keep patients and our caregivers safe.
As we slowly resume services paused in response to COVID-19, I want to assure you that we are proceeding cautiously and are taking great precautions to ensure a safe environment in which to give and receive care. In the meantime, please remember to seek care if you have an emergency, continue to get care for chronic conditions and schedule essential appointments such as prenatal care and immunizations.
At Ascension Via Christi, we are here for you and here for one another. Together, we will get through this difficult time even stronger than before.
Thank you and may God bless each of you.
