Kansas views on legislative elections, Jim Ward, KanCare cuts

Legislative elections – The upcoming elections will be a referendum on policies that are anathema to almost every living ex-governor on both sides of the political continuum. Kansans must choose to either return to the days of moderate governance and fiscal responsibility or embrace an “experiment” that exchanged millions in tax revenue for a “shot of adrenaline into the heart of the Kansas economy” that never materialized.

They know the state’s road to recovery begins by sidelining all far-right lawmakers who’ve been willing puppets in support of the Brownback agenda.

Jim Ward, D-Wichita, for his Twitter outburst aimed at school leaders who appeared ready to accept the original GOP school funding proposal. “Republicans want to cut schools another $13 million. This is why we are in court so often,” he wrote. And this: “FYI-KS superintendents, if you don’t stand up to bullies they will keep coming back for your lunch money.” Ward’s vote as a Democrat often can be ignored by the GOP. But his voice was invaluable on this one.
