Hatteberg stands out for skills, staying power
Local TV news can seem like a revolving door operation, with ratings and ambitions keeping many reporters and anchors from working anywhere long. Then there is Larry Hatteberg, the KAKE-TV institution who announced Monday that he would be retiring later this month. His staying power – 51 years at Channel 10 – owes as much to his understanding of his native Kansas as to his award-winning skills as a photojournalist and reporter. Fortunately for the viewers who’ve enjoyed spending time with both Hatteberg and “Hatteberg’s People” all these years, he doesn’t expect retirement to end his signature storytelling. – Rhonda Holman
