Overnight showers have made this the second-wettest May on record in Wichita, and more rain is on the way.
About a half-inch of rain fell early Thursday morning, raising the total for the month to 11.69 inches, said Vanessa Pearce, a meteorologist with the Wichita branch of the National Weather Service.
That surpassed the 11.22 inches that fell in 1935. Only 2008, with 13.14 inches, was wetter.
But 2015 isn’t done yet. More showers are possible later this morning, Pearce said, and then again early Friday morning.
Highs today will be in the upper 70s, with light south winds in the single digits. Overnight lows will settle in the low 60s, with Friday offering more highs in the upper 70s.
The weekend is looking dry at the moment, with sunny skies and highs in the 70s.
