Dangerous heat set to arrive in Wichita this weekend
A heat advisory for Wichita and south-central Kansas is set to begin Sunday afternoon as heat index values are expected to approach 105 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
For Wichita, high temperatures from Sunday through Wednesday are expected to be around 95. As of Saturday, the heat advisory was expected to expire Wednesday night.
Windy conditions were also expected Saturday into Sunday, the weather service said. Winds on Sunday are likely to gust to as high as 37 mph on Sunday, according to the weather service website.
The high heat is forecast after torrential rains hit the area. Anywhere from 4 inches to 7 inches were recorded across the Wichita area and just outside it from the storm swath that hit Thursday night into Friday, Kleinsasser said.
