The Wichita area could see winds of 60 mph or stronger Saturday into Sunday as weekend storms continue to develop across central and southern Kansas, according to the National Weather Service.

The biggest threats from the storm are expected to be damaging winds, possible flooding and large hail, though some tornadoes could also develop.

The storms are likely to be strongest in central Kansas, north of Wichita, and are expected to arrive after 9 p.m., though other isolated storms can’t be ruled out Saturday afternoon into the evening hours, according to the weather service.

From Saturday afternoon through Sunday, the weather service says Wichita could see as much as 1 inch of accumulated rainfall.
