Here’s a look at how much snow has fallen in Wichita
Wichita measured 1.9 inches of snow from the storm that started early Wednesday morning, according to Wichita’s official measurement site at Wichita Eisenhower National Airport.
The snow had mostly stopped around 10 a.m., but there could be some more spots of snow around the area until around 2 to 3 p.m., according to National Weather Service meteorologist James Cuellar.
“Any additional snow from here on out will be pretty spotty and light,” the Wichita meteorologist said around 10:30 p.m., adding some local spots could see up to half an inch more before the storm clears out.
Wichita’s record for Feb. 12 snowfall is 2.1 inches set in 2020. Cuellar didn’t expect that record to be broken today. The records date back to 1888.
Here is a look at other snowfall around the state:
The highest amounts of snow around the state were around 7 inches in Wallace County and around 5 inches in Riley County close to Manhattan, according to the Iowa Environmental Mesonet.

What’s ahead in Wichita
Wednesday’s high is around 20 degrees.
The weather overnight Wednesday and into Thursday morning could see a wind chill as low as minus 10 degrees.
The highs forecast for Thursday are around 28 degrees; it’s 44 degrees on Friday; Saturday has a high of 37 degrees.
Saturday morning through late in the afternoon could bring more snow, but the forecast right now is for less than an inch, according to the NWS in Wichita.
There is also a chance of snow Monday night and into Tuesday, but it’s not yet clear how much.
Snowfall for the season
Wichita has had 12.6 inches snow so far this season, which runs from October to April, according to Cuellar.
The normal snowfall for the season, which is based on data from 1991 to 2020, through Feb. 12 is 8.4 inches.
Looking at the history of available data, however, shows the snowfall so far this season is nothing compared to largest records.
The highest was 39.7 inches in the 1911-1912 season; the least was 0.7 inches in the 1922-1923 season, according to NWS data.
When looking at data dating back to 1888, the average snowfall for the whole season in Wichita is 14.6 inches, data shows.
