Updated: Negative wind chills and single digit temps. What Wichita can expect this weekend

Updated at 5 p.m. Friday: A blast of Arctic air is expected to move into Wichita this weekend, bringing north winds, sub-zero wind chills and a chance of snow flurries.

Friday had a high of 48 degrees. The high Saturday is expected to be half of that, at 24 degrees and a low of 10 in Wichita, the NWS said around 4 p.m. Friday.

Saturday will also have a gusty northwest winds, with a wind chill of -1.

Wichita is expected to have a -3 degree wind chill Sunday morning, -1 degree Monday morning and -9 degrees on Tuesday morning, the NWS in Wichita said.

The coldest wind chills that day around central and southeast Kansas will be -18 degree wind chills in Russell and -16 degrees wind chills in Salina Tuesday morning.

Sunday should have a high of 22 and a low of 7 degrees, Monday a high of 21 and a low of 2.

Wednesday and Thursday will start to warm back up with a forecast high of 39 and 37 degrees, respectively.

Snow flurries are forecast for Monday, but no accumulation is expected, the National Weather Service in Wichita said.
