So how much snow have we gotten in Wichita, Kansas? Here are totals after two storms
Wichita had 5.9 inches of snow fall on Thursday, bringing the January total up to 9.5 inches, according to National Weather Service data.
That amount, as measured at the Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, already ties for the 12th snowiest January on records dating back to 1888.

The snowfalls on Sunday and Thursday were the first of the winter. They left roads slick and led to lots of accidents and school closings around the Wichita area.
More snow is possible at the end of next week.
“The potential is there,” according to Bryan Baerg, a NWS meteorologist in Wichita. He added there could be more snow Saturday night outside of Wichita, along I-70.
Wichita’s highest snowfall in January was 19.7 inches in 1987. The last time Wichita saw this much snow in January was in 2007, which had 9.5 inches for the whole month.
The largest snowfall on Thursday was southwest of Wichita, along the the Oklahoma border, with more than 10 inches of snow, according to the Iowa Environmental Mesonet.
Wichita’s average snowfall for the winter season of December, January and February is 14.6 inches, according to data back to 1888. The highest snowfall was 39.4 inches in the 1987-1988 winter season, NWS data show.
