Woman, 73, killed in 3-vehicle accident in Concordia

A 73-year-old woman was killed Thursday in a three-vehicle accident in the north-central Kansas town of Concordia, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.

Marilyn R. Sothers, of Scandia, died at the hospital shortly after the crash, which happened shortly before 2:30 p.m., the report said.

As a westbound Chevrolet pickup made a left turn off Eighth Street onto U.S. 81, it clipped the left rear of Sothers’ southbound Buick LaSabre. The Buick spun to the left and across the center line where it was struck broadside on the passenger’s side by a northbound Dodge pickup, the report said.

The 29-year-old driver of the Chevrolet pickup, who is from Concordia, was not injured. Four people from Turon were in the Dodge pickup, including two children. A 12-year-old boy sustained possible injuries, the report said.
