Several classes at the University of Kansas were interrupted this afternoon by individuals wearing “Guy Fawkes” masks.
One of them was wearing a vintage military uniform, according to university police. A campus alert was sent out and KU Public Safety eventually took two individuals into custody for the disturbance. No weapons were found, no injuries were reported and no arrests had been made. KU law enforcement and school officials were continuing to investigate.
Nov. 5 is Guy Fawkes Day in Great Britain. The mask became a popular symbol of protest after it was featured in the 2006 movie “V for Vendetta.”
