South Hutch court accepting cans of food to help pay fines, feed hungry
As a way to help feed the hungry in Reno County, South Hutchinson’s Municipal Court is accepting cans of food to help pay off outstanding fines or warrant fees.
Each can of food counts as $5 toward paying off a fine or warrant fee up to $50 for each person, the court said in a news release. Collected food will be donated to the Food Bank of Reno County.
The food for fines program will start Nov. 15 and continue through Dec. 15. Cans may be dropped off from a 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday during those dates at the South Hutchinson Police Department, 10 E. Blanchard.
Cans of food must have their labels on and can’t be dented, rusted or have expired dates, the release said.
For more information, call the court at 620-560-6251.
