A ‘cozy cabin retreat’ is the most sought after Airbnb in Kansas, report finds
A one-bedroom cabin in Tonganoxie is the “most wishlisted” Airbnb listing in the Sunflower State, according to a recent report from the vacation home rental company.
Airbnb’s April 9 report named a “Cozy Cabin Retreat” as Kansas’ most desired stay. The cabin has one bedroom and one bathroom, and its listing says it’s in the top 1% of Airbnb listings based on ratings, reviews and reliability.
“From an earthhouse tucked beside a spring-fed creek to a home designed by a renowned architect and a hilltop treehouse overlooking a lavender farm, the region’s most wishlisted Airbnbs reflect a deep appreciation for design, character, and full immersion in a standout space,” Airbnb’s description of the most wishlisted Midwest rentals reads.
The Tonganoxie cabin is described as a “guest favorite,” with a 4.96-star rating of 860 reviews. The rental offers self check-in through a keypad, according to its listing, and the host recommends it for up to two adults and two children.
The rental is for the entire cabin, which features a queen-sized bed in the bedroom, a floor mattress in the living room, a full kitchen, full bathroom and outdoor area to explore. The listing advertises scenic hiking trails, an axe-throwing area and a horseshoe pit. The cabin is on a shared property with a retreat center.
“Our 15-acre property is a serene, mostly wooded retreat, complete with winding hiking trails, a tranquil labyrinth, and two picturesque ponds surrounded by meditation areas and hammocks for ultimate relaxation,” the cabin’s Airbnb listing reads.
Tonganoxie is about 175 miles from Wichita.

Pricing varies based on the dates you visit; a two-night, mid-week stay from July 7 to 9 was listed for $260 as of April 15, while a weekend stay in July was listed for $525.
The listing describes the property as a “peaceful haven,” with opportunities for outdoor recreation.
“The property teems with wildlife, and you’ll often spot hummingbirds flitting about, ready to brighten your day. Unwind with a good book in one of the hammocks and let nature do the rest,” the cabin’s Airbnb listing says.
Items such as towels, bedsheets and toilet paper are provided for your stay, as well as a TV, exercise equipment and board games, according to the listing. Helpful items for families are also available at the cabin, including a crib, pack and play, high chair and baby gates, the listing says.
