Food site crowns ‘hands down best’ fish sandwich in KS. That pick and Wichita options
If the bygone Lenten season put you in a fishy mood, a popular food site has decreed “The Hands Down Best” fish sandwiches in each state.
In Kansas, that sandwich is served by Mad Jack’s in Kansas City. The publication, Mashed, wrote it determined which was the best by “scouring the internet for reviews.” The establishment has consistently good reviews on Google.
Mashed noted Mad Jack’s fried catfish sandwich, which is $12.49, is served with fries and a drink, and topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion.
“The fried catfish po’boy is breaded in its own seasoning that some diners say is just like their grandma’s,” Mashed wrote.
Seeing that many Mad Jack’s menu items are served with two slices of bread, almost anything can be a sandwich if you want it to be.
The seafood joint, in its fourth decade, strongly resembles a tiny old White Castle. There is plenty of fresh seafood available for purchase by weight, plus a handful of prepared, non-seafood options.
