Officials have released maps showing the area and acreage burned in a wildfire that started Tuesday near Beaver, Oklahoma, and continued on to Clark, Comanche and Meade counties in Kansas.

The Ranger Road fire continued to burn in both states as of Thursday morning.

It has burned more than 283,000 acres, according to a map released Wednesday evening by the Oklahoma Forestry Services.

Three firefighters in Oklahoma and two in Kansas have been injured fighting the fire, officials have said. And in Clark County, two homes and an adjacent building have burned, an official said.

Veterinarian Dr. Randall Spare, with the Ashland Veterinary Center, has been busy euthanizing wounded cattle. He estimated 1,000-plus have died or will die as a result of the fire.

Other fires are still burning in Kansas as well. The Ranger Road fire is the largest.
