A pedestrian died Friday evening after being hit by two vehicles, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Thomas William McHugh, 77, of Riley, was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The incident happened at 6:05 p.m., just after dark. McHugh was in the southbound lanes of Highway 77, at the intersection of Highway 77 and Highway 24, when he was hit by a 1997 southbound Chevrolet Lumina driven by a 63-year-old Green, Kansas, man, a KHP trooper wrote in a crash report.

McHugh landed in the northbound lane, where he was hit by a 2017 northbound Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 20-year-old Clay Center man. That man was not injured.

The Lumina driver and a 71-year-old Green woman with the same last name were taken to a hospital with possible injuries.
