A UPS driver was killed in a collision with a train Tuesday in eastern Reno County, the sheriff’s office said.

Darick Navarro, 47, of Hutchinson died at the scene.

“Arriving units located a UPS delivery truck with heavy damage,” the Reno County Sheriff’s Office said on social media. “The driver was removed from the vehicle and emergency services began life saving procedures. Unfortunately, the driver succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by EMS on scene. “

The two BNSF employees on the train weren’t injured.

The sheriff’s office said it was called to the scene at 3:09 p.m. at Blanchard and Woodberry, which is just north of where train tracks cross Woodberry.

Those train tracks do have a crossing arm at the location on Woodberry, according to a June 2024 street view on Google Maps.
