Two Kansas men die in fiery collision on highway in Sumner County
Two Kansas men died when their trucks collided and caught fire Tuesday in Sumner County, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened just before 10 a.m. when a 2001 Ford F-150 driven by 56-year-old John Karlin Stoddard of Bell Plaine headed east on U.S. 160, crossed the center line and went into oncoming traffic in the westbound lane, a KHP trooper wrote in a crash report. The truck collided with a 2016 Peterbuilt semi driven west by 29-year-old Michael Anthony Windahl of Harper, the trooper wrote.
“Both vehicles came to rest in the south ditch were they both caught on fire,” the trooper wrote.
Both men died at the scene.
