The Hutchinson Regional Airport briefly closed Friday morning after a threat left on an airport voicemail late Thursday night, officials said.

“Resources examined all planes and buildings at the airport, and nothing was located to substantiate the threat,” Hutchinson police Capt. Dustin Loepp said in an email just after 2 p.m. Friday. “We are currently still following up on the case and serving legal paperwork. Depending on that outcome, I may have some further information to release to you but not until then.”

He did not answer a question about what the threat was.

Police were called at 8:17 a.m. Friday to investigate. Airport officials closed the airport during that time and reopened shortly after police gave the all clear at 10 a.m.

Asked about annual air traffic at the airport, an official said they have about 30,000 operations, which would include two for a landing and takeoff and would also count if a pilot did a touch and go, landing and taking off again without coming to a full stop.
