Authorities continued to search Friday for a 40-year-old man and 14-year-old girl missing at Kanopolis Lake since Thursday night.

They responded at 7:21 p.m. to a call near Kimble Point at Kanopolis Lake. The Ellsworth County Sheriff’s Office said three people jumped from a boat into the water to swim. The current pushed the boat away and they were unable to get back on it.

A camper noticed one of the 14-year-old girls struggling in the water and rushed in to help her. She was taken to Lindsborg hospital and then airlifted to Wichita in serious condition, the sheriff office said.

Multiple agencies resumed the search at 6 a.m. Friday with divers and helicopters.

Kanopolis Lake is 91 miles northwest of Wichita.
