Community outrage over the killing of a 6-year-old Kansas City girl has not translated into help for police trying to solve the crime, officials said.

As of noon Monday, Kansas City police had only received one tip about the shooting death Friday night of Angel Hooper.

“Multiple” people witnessed the crime about 7:15 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven at 10615 Blue Ridge Blvd., according to police

Angel and her father were leaving the store when someone drove by and fired gunshots into the lot. Several other people were in the lot at the time, but the little girl was the only one hit.

Detectives are following up on leads, but they said they need the public’s help “to bring the killer of this innocent child to justice.”

A reward is available for tipsters, who can remain anonymous. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
