A driver and his passenger died in an accident on Old Highway 81 just outside of Moundridge on Thursday night, the McPherson County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
First responders were called at 7:48 p.m. after 63-year-old Danny Lee Heath of Hutchinson stopped at a stop sign at Arrowhead and then pulled in front of a pickup truck driven by a 19-year-old Moundridge resident on Old Highway 81.
The teen hit the passenger door of the 2004 Toyota Corolla that Heath was driving. A passenger in the Toyota, 30-year-old Mariah Lyddane of Hutchinson, died at the scene. Heath had to be extricated from the vehicle before being taken to Wesley Medical Center where he died at 5 a.m. Friday.
