Man killed when SUV rear-ends his motorcycle along Kansas Turnpike

A 60-year-old man died Monday when his motorcycle was rear-ended by an SUV along the Kansas Turnpike

Richard Schroeder of St. Joseph, Missouri, was on a Honda motorcycle heading north on I-35 in Lyon County, according to Kansas Highway Patrol crash logs.

He was in the left lane because the right lane was closed off. A 2018 Mazda CX-3 came up behind Schroeder in the left lane and rear-ended him, causing him to fall off his motorcycle, the crash report shows. The accident was reported at 4:37 p.m.

Schroeder died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Mazda, a 26-year-old man from Rio Grande, Texas, was not injured, according to the highway patrol.
