A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper pulled over a speeder on I-70 and then came face-to-face with the driver.

The trooper recognized it was Afroman, a Grammy-nominated rapper made famous in the early 2000s after the hit songs “Because I Got High” and “Colt 45.”

The stop in western Kansas happened this week. Joseph Edgar Foreman, known as Afroman, was let off with a warning.

Afroman posed for a photo with the trooper while clad in black fur jacket, bright pink shirt, a big gold chain, gold ring and his signature afro haircut. He posted a video Tuesday on his Instagram of him being pulled over.

There is a Bentley, a high-end luxury car, with a white hood and green paint on the open door. A trooper vehicle can be seen in the background. He also posted dates of performances in California from Tuesday through Sunday with the title “CALIFORNIA CANNABIS CUTE TITTY TOUR.”

“They gonna take my weed but I’m still coming,” he said in the video.

“You never know who you are going to meet in this fun career,” trooper Tod Hileman wrote Tuesday night on Facebook. “If you were a fan of early 2000s rap music, you might know this gentleman. Our Trooper said he was a really nice guy!”

More than 90 people commented on the Facebook post, including one asking if the photo was “before or after his car was searched.”

The song “Because I Got High” has 297 million views on Youtube; “Colt 45” has 73 million. The songs were released in 2000 and 2004.
