Kansas woman dies in crash involving pickup truck making an illegal U-turn on I-70

A 69-year-old woman died in a crash Saturday along I-70 in northwest Kansas.

The woman was identified as Jane Nutting of Wakeeney, Kansas Highway Patrol crash logs show.

The incident was reported at 8:47 a.m. along I-70 in Thomas County. A 2011 Ford Ranger and 2015 Ford F-250 were both westbound on I-70.

Both trucks were in the driving lane, with the F-250 behind the Ranger, which was moving into the passing lane. The Ranger attempted to make an illegal U-turn and was struck by the F-250, according to the report.

Both trucks came to rest in the highway median. Nutting died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the F-250, a 51-year-old Colorado man, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, the KHP said.
