A 68-year-old man died when a pickup truck collided head-on with a semtractor-trailer and caught fire Saturday in south central Kansas.

The man was identified as Martin McLaughlin of Romulus, Michigan, a Kansas Highway Patrol crash log shows.

The incident was reported at 7:30 p.m. along Kansas Highway 61, roughly two miles east of Turon in Reno County. McLaughlin was heading south on K-61 in a 2024 Ford F-150 pickup truck while a semi was northbound on the same highway.

The pickup collided head-on with the semi in the southbound lane. The F-150 became fully engulfed in flames and the semi ended up in a ditch, the KHP said.

McLaughlin died at the scene of the crash. The semi driver, a 44-year-old man from Ludington, Michigan, was taken to Reno County Hospital with suspected serious injuries, according to the crash report.
