Wichita man, 62, dies after Chevy van leaves road, strikes tree

A 62-year-old Wichita man died in a vehicle crash in Saline County on Monday.

The crash was reported around 7 a.m. on a rural road about seven miles south of Gypsum. Bennett Kinkelaar was northbound on Gypsum Valley Road in a 90s Chevrolet van when it went off the road to the right and struck a tree, Kansas highway Patrol crash logs show.

The van traveled several hundred yards and came to stop on its wheels. Kinkelaar died at the scene, the KHP said.

Gypsum is about 90 miles north of Wichita in Saline County.
