Kansas woman dies after being struck by emergency vehicle responding to call

A Kansas woman is dead after she was struck by an emergency vehicle Saturday in southeast Kansas.

The incident was reported around 9:55 p.m. on Franklin Street south of Sycamore Street in Elk City in Montgomery County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash logs.

A Ford F550 was responding to a medical call with emergency lights activated. The vehicle was northbound on Franklin when it made a wide turn and struck a woman sitting in her chair on the west side of Franklin, the report said.

The victim was identified as 72-year-old Victoria Edington of Elk City, Kansas. She died at the scene of the incident, the log said.
