Three dead, four injured in head-on collision on Kansas Turnpike, according to official
Three people are dead and four more are injured after a head-on crash on Saturday on the Kansas Turnpike near Belle Plaine, a Kansas Highway Patrol dispatcher said.
First responders were called to the wreck at 1:34 p.m.
The dispatcher said it happened in a construction zone just north of the rest stop that’s between the northbound and southbound lanes. The wreck involved three cars, she said, but she didn’t know the makeup of fatalities and injuries among the vehicles.
As of 4:30 p.m., she said traffic in both lanes was being blocked off. The KHP crash log will provide more details about the wreck. It could be updated later on Saturday or possibly on Sunday.
