Three Cheney residents were killed and one seriously injured in a Kingman County crash on Friday morning, Kansas Highway Patrol crash logs show.

The crash happened shortly after 10 a.m. on NE 10th St. and NE 100 Ave, about 10 miles east of Kingman. Justin Martin, 21, of Cheney, was heading north on NE 100 Ave in a 2004 Chevy Classic. Franklin Young, 89, of Cheney, was eastbound on NE 10th St in a 1992 Chevy 2500 truck, crash logs say.

The report says Martin failed to stop at the stop sign, resulting in Young striking the Chevy sedan on the driver’s door in the middle of the intersection, according to the report.

Martin and his passenger, 25-year-old Ashley Ashwell of Cheney, died at the scene. Young was also pronounced dead at the scene, the report says.

Young’s passenger, 61-year-old John Stewart of Cheney, was taken to Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita with “suspected serious injury,” the report said.

Young was hauling a trailer at the time of the incident.
