One person remains missing and several injuries were reported after wildfires that occurred on Saturday in Reno and Harvey county, according to a Reno County news release.

Fire crews continue to “hold hotspots and perform burn out operations” to the 12,000 acres that were affected by the Hutchinson Cottonwood Complex fire east of Hutchinson.

Search and rescue crews are asking the public to stay out of the area.

“Multiple in county and out of county firefighters and state agencies are assisting. Crews are currently out making detailed damage assessments,” the release said. Hutchinson Fire Chief Steven Beer said in a press conference that he will have damage numbers available later this week.

Buhler/Haven road is currently open, but side roads are blocked by sheriff’s deputies. Flight restrictions remain in place from “Obee Road to Burmac Road, 30th Avenue to Highway 50,” according to the news release.

“Firefighting aircraft will be working the area over the next few days and the airspace must remain clear or the aircraft will be grounded, “ the release said.

Cattle pens and water are available for anyone to use at the Gray Residence located at 8115 East 4th.

A burn ban is also in effect for Reno County for the next several days, the release said.
