Chase County collision kills Marion teen
An 18-year-old Marion man was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Chase County on Saturday, authorities said.
Kaleb Montgomery was driving east on K-150 at about 10:55 a.m. 14 miles west of Cottonwood Falls when he passed a car and was about to pass a semi when he swerved to the right and then over-corrected and went toward the north ditch, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Montgomery’s vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a westbound semi. He was thrown from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi overturned, coming to a stop on the driver’s side, the highway patrol said. The driver, a 53-year-old man from Garden City, was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment.
