Health officials rescind ‘do not drink’ water order in Kingman County
An order to not drink water in Kingman County has been rescinded, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
On Friday, the KDHE said the July 6 measure had originally been put in place because “secondary water sources known to be high in nitrate” were being used to keep up with water demands. The order was in place in the city of Kingman and Kingman County Rural Water District No. 1, which is between Kingman and Cheney in the eastern part of the county, according to the Kansas Rural Water Association.
“The secondary source is no longer in use and all other conditions that placed the system at risk of contamination are deemed by KDHE officials to be resolved,” according to a KDHE release.
People in the affected areas with questions can call the KDHE at 785-296-5514 or visit kdheks.gov/pws/emergencyresponse/water_disruption.htm
