Deadly crash near Moundridge happened as driver stopped to assist at another wreck
Update, 7 p.m.:
An El Dorado man died after stopping along a Kansas interstate to help another driver who had been involved in a wreck, state troopers said.
Jeffrey G. Killgore, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene of a Thursday morning accident on I-135 in McPherson County, the Kansas Highway Patrol said in a crash report. The wreck happened at around 6:20 a.m. about a mile north of Moundridge in the northbound lanes of the interstate.
Investigators determined Killgore had been driving a 2015 Chevy Silverado, but had stopped on the shoulder to assist someone else who had hit the guardrail. A 2010 Toyota Tundra then entered the scene and struck Killgore.
The driver of the Toyota pickup truck sustained a suspected minor injury and was taken to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis hospital for treatment. He was identified in the KHP report as Sergio R. Moreno, 41, of Wichita.

One person has died in a multi-vehicle accident Thursday morning on I-135 near Moundridge, Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Ben Gardner said.
The McPherson County crash happened before 7 a.m. in the northbound lane of I-135. Gardner tweeted that the northbound lane would be closed for several hours.
