Wrong-way driver hit head-on by semi dies, Kansas trooper says
A 72-year-old Topeka man was killed Thursday after driving into oncoming traffic and being hit head-on by a semi-tractor, the Kansas Highway Patrol reported.
According to the patrol: Around 10:43 p.m., Raymond E. Riis was traveling east on I-70 in Riley County in a 2011 Kia Soul when he crossed into the westbound passing lane. At the top of a hill, Riis was hit head-on by a semi driven by a 30-year-old Wichita man. The semi driver was not injured.
