Colorado woman killed by crash on highway in southwest Kansas, troopers say
A Colorado woman was killed by a wreck Sunday in southwest Kansas after a Georgia man’s vehicle crossed the center line of a highway.
Emergency crews responded at around 1 p.m. to an injury accident on U.S. 283 about 9 miles south of U.S. 56 in Ford County, a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report states.
Investigators determined a 2014 Toyota Sienna was northbound on the highway and went left of center, colliding with a southbound 2005 Chevrolet Suburban, according to the KHP report. The Chevy SUV rolled over and ended up in a ditch, while the minivan stayed on the road.
The driver of the Chevy was taken to Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City and pronounced dead. The crash report identified her as Sherry S. McKinnon, 73, of Foxfield, Colorado.
The driver of the Toyota was taken to the same hospital with suspected minor injuries. The KHP identified him as Russell A. Larger, 58, of Chula, Georgia.
