One killed, one wounded in Winfield shooting

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is still at the scene of a shooting that left one man dead and another wounded in Winfield on Monday night, police said.

The shooting occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Monday at a house in the 600 block of East Third, Winfield police Chief Danny Parker said in an e-mail response to questions. The surviving victim was flown to a Wichita hospital for treatment of injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

“We are not sure who our suspect is or what his accurate description might be,” Parker said.

KBI crime scene investigators are processing the scene of the shooting.

“We are following up on a number of tips with no positive results at this time,” Parker said.

Police have not released the name of the man who was killed.
