Four Emporia teens arrested after boy kidnapped, beaten and robbed
Two adults and two minors have been arrested in Emporia, accused of kidnapping, robbing and beating a 16-year-old boy, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday.
Lyon County deputies were called to Newman Hospital in Emporia on Saturday following the report of a kidnapping, Sheriff Jeffrey Cope said in a prepared statement. The deputies learned a 16-year-old boy was taken from the 1400 block of Road P in Lyon County.
He was treated for a possible broken nose and other injuries before being released. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation was notified and assisted in the ensuing investigation, Cope said.
Interviews led to the arrest of four suspects: Andrew Granado, 18; Samuel Garcia, 18; and two 17-year-olds. All four are from Emporia.
They are being held on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, aggravated battery and criminal threat, Cope said. The incident remains under investigation.
