Garden City hospital goes on lock down after report of active shooter

An unconfirmed report of an active shooter prompted a lock down at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City Wednesday night, authorities reported.

Police were notified at about 7:20 p.m. Officers responded to the hospital and initiated a search.

“No active shooter was located and there is no evidence there was an active shooter,” a portion of a statement issued by the Garden City Police Department said.

The statement added that the hospital is following security precautions.

“The nature of the call is being investigated,” the police statement said.

The lock down was lifted at 9:15 p.m., a hospital employee said.
