Fort Hays State student dies after fall in Mexico
A Fort Hays State University student who was reportedly injured while vacationing in Mexico last week has died.
A university spokeswoman on Tuesday confirmed the death of Triston Werth, who was set to enter his second year at the school.
Werth, according to a GoFundMe page set up for the 19-year-old, was vacationing with friends in Cancun when he suffered a three-story fall on Aug. 8.
After the fall, Werth was in a coma in a hospital in Mexico, though plans were for him to be transported to a Houston medical facility, the page said.
Werth entered Fort Hays as a business major after graduating from Hays High School in 2016, according to his Facebook page.
