Woman killed in three-vehicle crash on I-70
An Oklahoma woman was killed in a three-vehicle collision on I-70 in Trego County Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
All three vehicles were heading west on I-70 near the exit for U.S. 283 when a Buick rear-ended a Suzuki SX4 in the passing lane shortly before 4:30 p.m., according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The Buick’s rear fish-tailed to the right, striking the rear of a Volvo, which was pulling a trailer.
The Buick came to rest on its wheels facing south in the passing lane of westbound I-70, while the Suzuki slid across the median and stopped in the passing lane of eastbound I-70, the highway patrol report stated. The Volvo pulled over to the shoulder of the interstate.
Gail Moller, 56, of Ponca City, who was driving the Suzuki, died at the scene. No other injuries were reported in the collision.
Though severe weather — including strong winds, large hail and thick fog — was occurring in Trego County Thursday afternoon, the report does not indicate whether weather played a role in the collision.
